Cans for Cats

Updated: Jul 17, 2023

Hi there, and thanks for reading our fourth blog post. My sister and I have officially reached $100 earned from cat-sitting! We will donate this money once we reach $500. We will add a meter on the website that shows how close we are to reaching our goal.

We are striving to help underfunded rescuers, and we are calling our mission Cans For Cats. Remember that anybody can do things like this to help their local cat community so feel free to update us via email or forum if you are raising money for cats.

Unfortunately, not everybody in our neighborhood is as supportive of the cats as we are. Just today, as we were feeding the cats who live on our golf course, a new person living in our neighborhood approached us and asked why we were feeding them. We explained that the cats would be hungry without our help, but she clearly was angry that we were encouraging the cats to live on the golf course.

It is important not to anger your neighbors, but like many issues in our society a compromise is usually necessary, however, we are not deterred and will continue to help and feed the cats who live near us.

Finally, we are introducing our fourth furry friend, Doug. Doug lives on the golf course and is a very young white and gray cat. We first met him when he was only a kitten, and he has since moved from the 12th hole of the course to the 16th. Doug lives with Davey, Elijah, and Dustin, and often chases them through the bushes and steals their food. While we are trying to teach him how to live with other cats, Doug is very sweet and loves attention.

As a side note, Dustin has been missing for about a month now. He was most likely dumped by a family, and since he was not able to find a new home, was forced to live outside. Dustin was clearly unhappy, and we are hoping is safe with a new family now.

If you can not take care of a cat anymore make sure it finds a new loving home, and as a last resort a no-kill shelter.

Thanks for reading blog post number four, and remember that we can all make a difference in our community cat worlds.
